One very fun GF camp!

We host a free of charge Celiac Camp in Northern California, 144 participants for 5 nights 6 days. The motto besides please check your illness at the door is ~ If it is not the BEST gluten free food, then we will NOT serve it. That said the kids clamor to meal times 15 minutes early. But it is NOT all about the food, it is about friendship, hope, inclusion and fitting in. It is about rock walls, ropes courses, swimming, horse back riding, lake trips, campfires, skits, smores, arts & crafts and FUN, FUN, FUN and just being a kid. www.ttff.org and www.celiaccamp.com

Camper at Westminster Camp in Michigan

Analise had a wonderful time. I mis-read the info or the info changed - I prepped her for a totally safe environment - ALL gf/cf but that was not the case. She was mixed in with other campers and met one gf/cf kid that she made friends with (phew). The camp staff were WONDERFUL and very attentive to diet and medical needs. She had a fantastic time. She loved the foods and we are hoping to get recipes to prepare some at home. I would have felt better if the whole camp was gluten free, though. I would still love to send her next year, just without the "you will be safe" talk - she will need to watch cross contamination since shared camp. I would have liked her to make more food allergy friends for the amount of money spent and the expectations that I had for a gf/cf camp but I am thankful that she got a fantastic camp experience with a beautiful and attentive staff. She says,"It was great, awesome. I loved swimming every day."
