Guide Review - Mary's Gone Crackers Introduces Sticks & Twigs
Mary's Gone Crackers is the name of a California-based company that produces my favorite gluten-free crackers. The basic ingredients are organic and good for you, too: brown rice, quinoa, flax seeds and sesame seeds. I'm not alone in my opinion that these crackers are delicious. At the 2008 Summer Fancy Foods Show in New York, the company won the Gold Award for Outstanding Cracker of 2008 from the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade. The crackers come in a variety of flavors, including Herb, Onion, Sesame, Caraway, Black Pepper and Original Seed.

Mary's Gone Crackers has plans to market a variety of new products, including one called Sticks & Twigs. I have to confess that I was introduced to Sticks & Twigs by Mary herself, at a dinner she hosted in New York. Sticks & Twigs are like miniature breadsticks, with the same crunchy texture as Mary's crackers, but in different flavors (Sea Salt, Curry, Cinnamon, and Chipotle Tomato).

Mary gave me several bags to take home, in every flavor -- and each is delicious. I've been tempted to hide them from the gluten-eaters in my house, because I want them all to myself... but in fact, I've been sharing them with my family and friends, and everyone raves about them. We've munched them straight from the bag, we've dipped them in humus, in guacamole, in bean dips (and even in applesauce). Since I've been on the gluten-free diet, I've always resorted to using carrots or other vegetables in place of breadsticks. At last, with Sticks & Twigs from Mary's Gone Crackers, a gluten-free breadstick alternative has arrived.

While the crackers are available in stores around the world, Sticks & Twigs are presently available only through the Mary's Gone Crackers website, which means that for now, at least, customers must also pay shipping costs.
