Ataxia

Definition: Ataxia involves the loss of muscle coordination. Patients with ataxia have unsteady movements and stagger when they walk.

Celiac disease has been associated with ataxia in some patients. Other causes can include injuries, brain tumors, certain infections, inherited disorders, and degenerative diseases (e.g., Parkinson's disease). Ataxia can also be a side effect of medication.
