General Mills Launches Gluten-Free Apple-Cinnamon Chex

By July 11, 2012

Fans of gluten-free cereal have another new option: Apple-Cinnamon Chex, a new flavor from the popular Chex cereal line manufactured by General Mills.

That brings the total number of Chex gluten-free-labeled cereals to six: Rice, Corn, Honey Nut, Chocolate, Cinnamon and Apple Cinnamon.

The cereals are tested to contain fewer than 20 parts per million of gluten, but may contain enough trace gluten to bother those who react to products manufactured on shared lines. General Mills also makes two Chex flavors that are not considered gluten-free: Wheat and Multi-Bran.

There are plenty of gluten-free cereal options out there these days. Here's a rundown:

Also, if you're wondering whether oatmeal is an option for you, you might want to read Is Oatmeal Gluten-Free?, which provides a list of certified GF oatmeal sources. Happy breakfast!

I’ve tried it, it’s pretty good…great as a snack too. I could see it being used in some great chex mix recipes for the holidays.

I LOVE the Chex cereals for much more than eating in a bowl with almond milk. Be creative – I use Chex Gluten free cereal crushed up to coated/breaded chicken or fish, crush &mix with melted butter to create a pie crust, make a great gluten-free Chex Mix with all your fav goodies,
crush flavored Chex cereal to put over yogurt or ice cream, the uses are only limited by your imagination. I really enjoy making No-Bake “cookies with Chex cereal-just choose your flavor.
