Celiac Disease Symptoms, From the Common To the Bizarre

Most of us know the most commonly cited symptoms of celiac disease: diarrhea, fatigue, bloating and intestinal pain. But did you know there are more than 100 potential signs, symptoms and conditions associated with celiac?

Do you have insomnia? That could indicate celiac. What about an itchy skin condition? Several could point to celiac, while others seem to improve on a gluten-free diet.

How about thyroid disease or infertility? Yup, those are linked to celiac disease. And what if you have recurrent canker sores or simply bad teeth? Again, those frequently signal celiac.

Yes, more than 100 signs and symptoms of celiac disease means this is a particularly hard-to-diagnose condition. Read more on celiac disease symptoms here: Typical and Atypical Symptoms of Celiac Disease in Adults and Children.

Personally, I wish someone had mentioned the possibility of celiac disease back when I was a teenager and experiencing constant canker sores. But the oddest symptom I had by far (and I had many symptoms) was a sore belly button. It's not clear why my belly button was sore ... but it cleared up gluten-free, and only gets sore these days when I get glutened.

Do you have a similar weird symptom that cleared up gluten-free? Share it in the comments section below.
