Mark your calendars (and mark calendars for your family and friends -- they won't mind): the 2nd annual Gluten-Free Challenge takes place May 21-22.
The challenge, which started last year, asks participants to eat entirely gluten-free for one weekend, and also asks them to try one gluten-free dish, treat or meal a day for the month prior to the challenge weekend.
In 2010, more than 1,500 people rose to the challenge, and more already have signed on for this year's event, according to GIG. Beginning April 21, participants who opt in will start to receive 30 days of gluten-free tips and recipes -- one per day -- to help them prepare for the actual challenge weekend.
According to the 2010 post-challenge survey, 80% of those who participated said the challenge helped them gain a better understanding of living gluten-free, and 86% of respondents found the tips and recipes most helpful in meeting the challenge.
Two-thirds of those who signed up last year already live gluten-free, while another third were either a family member or a friend of someone who's gluten-free.
The 2nd annual Gluten Free Challenge takes place during the May observance of Celiac Awareness Month. I'm ready -- are you?
