Celiac Disease Articles to Share with Your Doctor

Unfortunately, many physicians still don't know when to suspect celiac disease. Readers often tell me their doctor has said, “You can’t have celiac disease. You’re too old.” Or, “You don’t have diarrhea so you can’t have celiac disease.” Wake up, doctors. You're behind the times.

If you think you have celiac disease symptoms or risk factors and should be tested but your doctor is not up to date, you have two choices. The first is to find a doctor who understands celiac disease and is able to recognize its symptoms, risk factors, and associated conditions. Your other option is to try to convince your current doctor that he or she needs to learn more about celiac disease.

Showing your doctor articles from newspapers and magazines is not the best approach. Instead, your doctor is more likely to appreciate copies of good articles from highly regarded medical journals. In the article I've just posted, "Articles About Celiac Disease You Can Show to Your Doctor," I've provided links to three articles you can download, each of which provides a broad review of current knowledge for physicians and other health care professionals.
