Legislative Alert! (Don't Let Iowans Do All the Work This Week)
The bill, introduced in the House of Representatives by Nita Lowey (D-NY), declares that Congress: (1) supports the goals and ideals of National Celiac Awareness Month; (2) should work with health care providers and celiac disease advocacy and education organizations to encourage screening and early detection of celiac disease; and (3) should increase federal funding for celiac disease research. The complete text of the bill is available on the Library of Congress website.

Why are thy ting to get aother month as Celiac Awareness Month? Yars ago Congress made October the official Celiac Awareness month. Are they chaging months or just don’t know had as already been done?
Here’s a link to a great explanation of why there’s a push to have May be Celiac Awareness Month. The explanation is by Beth Hillson, President of the American Celiac Disease Alliance. It appears on the website of the New Hampshire R.O.C.K. (Raising Our Celiac Kids).
Congress has already declared October as celiac awareness month…..why are people trying to change it? shouldn’t we be glad that Congress already gave us a month?
CNN also did a whole week supporting Celiac Awareness month in October….
the change just seems so pointless.
